Hello and welcome to FaerieFits, your one-stop “shop” for book reviews and ramblings for the fantasy lover.
So what exactly is FaerieFits?
FaerieFits is a blog dedicated to all things related to fantasy books: reading, writing, chatting, swag. You name it, you’ve got it! Over the coming years, you can expect to explore the world of fantasy with me, and hopefully learn useful skills such as:
- The best ways to survive a vampire encounter
- How to detect a witch
- (Most importantly) How to outsmart a faerie trickster!
We’ll explore anecdotes of real life encounters by studying the written documentation in works such as:
- Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill
- All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness
- Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.
Works such as these reveal a window into the possible, and I’ve taken it upon myself to help you understand just what these books are trying to tell us.
By reading books such as these, I will pick apart how the supernatural beings around us manage to survive — I’ll examine in-depth the characters themselves, the world-building (especially how “magic” works), and how the supernatural interact with the world via plot and pacing. Oh, and we mustn’t forget to assess the overall quality of the writing used to document these events!
How did FaerieFits get its name?
Well, I like to read fantasy, I very much enjoy learning about the fae, and I often find that I’m throwing fits about books: both good and bad!
Who am I?
The name’s Michelle. I’m a twenty-something, cat-obsessed, oboe-playing, statistically-curious book-loving mother of one. And I blog in my spare time. You know, when I actually have spare time.
